Cuban Baseball Brawl: Player Struck With Bat in Fight

A benches clearing brawl which features a Cuban baseball player drilling an opponent in the face with his bat, headlines Cuban baseball around the world. The fight was between rival teams Matanzas and Villa Clara, which was caught on live television in Cuba on Monday Night.

After Matanza’s took a 3-0 lead in the 7th inning, things began to heat up. Villa Clara’s pitcher, Freddy Asiel Alvarez, hit two of Villa Clara’s hitters in a row, throwing at their heads. Matanza’s Demis Valdes retaliated charging the mound with his bat.

As both Alvarez and Valdes charged each other, Valdes planted his feet and swung for the fences aiming on Alvarez’s head; barely connecting. Both benches cleared for the 5 minute fight and 20 minute delay. Matanza’s hung on to win the game 3-0 and no one was seriously injured. Check out the entire fight below.
