El Dio de Strikeout & MLB Updates:
Jose Fernandez – Fernandez out-dueled Atlanta’s Alex Wood in this one, snatching up the W in the 1-0 game. Hernandez K’d 14, allowing 0 ER. Tuesday’s victory moves Hernandez to 3-1 on the season with a 1.99 ERA and an astounding 47 K’s in 31.2 IP.
Alex Wood – Hasn’t been rewarded offensively by his teammates in the past few games. Wood has been on an absolute tear to begin the season and we fully expected him to be a Rookie of the Year candidate from day one. Wood cut up Miami for 11 K’s in 8 IP with only 1 ER. The theme has become consistent for the Atlanta Offense when Wood takes the hill, as he tossed a gem last week vs. PHI (8 IP, 7 K’s and 1 ER). That’s two tough back-to-back starts for the youngster and hard to swallow when putting up those numbers and getting the loss in both games. ATL has a bunch of all-or-nothing “swingers” in their lineup and for Wood, he’s gotten the nothing version … “HAVE TO WAKE UP BATS!”

David Price – 9 IP, 12 K’s, W … Nuff ‘ Said!
Cole Hamels – Comes off the DL for his first start of the season against the LA Dodgers (Greinke) on Wednesday. We’re holding off before sticking him in our lineup, as LA holds the keys to a potent offense. Wait and see on this one!
Edwin Encarnacion – 20 Games in and 79 ABs later, Edwin takes his first home run trot around the bases. His HRs usually come in bunches, so if you have lost patience, get that patience back and put him in your lineup!
Albert Pujols – Smacked 2 bombs on Tuesday Night and is off to a nice power surge this season – 8 HRs and 19 RBIs. With tonights 2 HRs, Pujols now joins the historical 500 HR Club.
Manny Machado – Will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Frederick on Friday. Machado will move up to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday and then go back to Double-A Bowie since it’s closer to Baltimore. He is on pace to rejoin the Orioles at the beginning of May.
Adam Wainwright – After a scare, Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny said after Tuesday’s game that there’s no sign of any ligament damage in Adam Wainwright’s right knee. Wainwright was quoted saying that he doesn’t expect to miss his next start. Breathe easy fantasy owners!
Jarred Dyson – With Lorenzo Cain hitting the DL, Dyson should be seen as a nice source of speed and easily available on the wire. Plug him in if you need the numbers in that category. Last season, Dyson swiped 34 bases in 239 plate appearances. Those are ratios we like and with the opportunity at hand, we like the potential stat-filler.
