Best WR Duos in the NFL

It’s never too early to talk Fantasy Football! There are a few topics that are always arguable. From the who is better – Jordan, LeBron or Kobe to who is the Who’s on Mt. Rushmore conversation. We kick off this weeks conversation with 2014’s Best WR Duos in the NFL. The NFL is consistently transforming itself to a more pass heavy league year after year. Therefore, the question carries substance and considerably carries a teams success. That being said, here’s out take. Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

1 – Brandon Marshall / Alshon Jeffery

The two wideouts combined for 2,716 Rec. Yards, 189 Receptions, 8 100 Yard+ Games and 19 TDs. With Marshall as a phenomenal red zone target and Jeffery as a big play machine, the two WRs are the most dominant tandem in the game. The combination of athleticism and physical stature dwarf DB’s on a weekly basis (Marshall 6’4″ / Jeffery 6’3″). The potent attack with Forte in the backfield and offensive mastermind Marc Trestman at the helm, Chicago will certainly have another electrify season in 2014. If possible, grab one of these WR’s for stable weekly production in your 2014 Fantasy Drafts.

2 – Calvin Johnson / Golden Tate

Calvin Johnson is without question and consistently the most dominant athlete in the NFL. Detroit made a great move this off-season in acquiring side-kick Golden Tate. Per Football Focus, Tate also led all eligible WR’s in forced missed tackles, yards after the catch per reception and punt-return efficiency last season. We love the combination in Detroit this season and view Tate as a special pick in Fantasy Drafts this season. Beyond that, Matthew Stafford is in store for a Top 3 QB season.

3 – Julio Jones / Roddy White

The Atlanta Falcons unraveled bad last season after an injury-riddled season. Julio Jones was on tract for a monster season before turning it in with a season ending injury. Rowdy Roddy White followed suit with injuries and turned in a very poor and fantasy owner frustrating season! The domino effect continued with Matt Ryan then ultimately the Atlanta Running Game. Whew … So it’s pretty clear – Julio Jones makes this team go. With a healthy team in order, Atlanta should be back to fantasy stardom in 2014. Love Julio Jones, don’t trust Roddy. We still view this WR combo as  explosive. As much as we loathe Roddy White, he surprising turned in a solid back-half averaging nearly 9 Receptions and 100 Yards Per Game over the final 5 games.

4 – Pierre Garcon / DeSean Jackson

Some people may be surprised here, but we see some pop here. Garcon led the NFL with 113 Receptions and finished second only to Demaryius Thomas in YAC. Couple that with a healthy RG3 and new toy DeSean Jackson – we like it! The two compliment each other as Garcon offers solid possession play whereas Jackson gives the big play ability. The dynamic duo of Garcon and Jackson should bring serious buzz to Washington in 2014.

5 – Demaryius Thomas / Wes Welker

Solid from top to bottom. Thomas and Welker provide the stability not only as WR’s, but also the bonus aspect of Peyton Manning weapons. The addition of Emmanuel Sanders has bolstered this combo and Post-Rookie Julius Thomas adds even more depth to the Denver Offense. If you can get your hands on these players, you should expect weekly consistency which will rack-up your Fantasy Points on the season.

6 – Jordy Nelson / Randall Cobb

Behind one of the Top QB’s in the NFL, Cobb and Nelson will always have serious value and always be a threat to both defenses and opposing fantasy managers. Some may look at this and say eeh … However, if you get that emotion, you may have forgotten about the strength of this offense as GB’s top options were dinged up in 2013. Look for a bounce-back effort in 2014 for these two WR’s. Keep Colt Lyerla in the back of your mind if the Packers end up taking a flyer on the Ex-Oregon TE. Lyerla’s had off-field issues, but if (that’s a big IF) he’s able to keep his head on straight he possesses the ability to be a benefactor in a Green Bay offense that’s missing a Tight End.

7 – Vincent Jackson / Mike Evans

Not sure how the league plans to cover the Tampa Bay WR’s, but they better figure it out in a hurry. The gruesome twosome of Vincent Jackson (6’5″/230 lbs) and Mike Evans (6’5″/231 lbs) will be a tantalizing duo to have to deal with. For Josh McCown, this is Chicago 2.0 as Tampa is laying out the blueprint comparable to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.  If we are putting it out there, Evans is a future double-digit NFL touchdown scorer and could flirt with that number this season. Our favorite adjective that we have heard attached to his name is that he has fire-hoses for arms. In all honesty, this is a duo that could jump up the ranks in 2014.
