10 Best Youth Baseball Sunglasses in 2023

As a dad with boys who love playing baseball, it has been awesome to watch them grow and develop their baseball skills.

One thing that has changed since I played is the amount of “baseball swag” that is commonplace in little league and travel ball baseball leagues across the country.

Arm sleeves, necklaces, eye black, and youth baseball sunglasses are all the rage and help give kids extra confidence when they practice or play.

We have gone through so many different baseball sunglasses over the years as a family that I thought it would be helpful to put together an article of all of the baseball sunglasses that we own so others can find the perfect pair.

Best Baseball Sunglasses for Kids

Here is a breakdown of the glasses we own and a list of pros/cons to all of the different styles:

 Coach Scott’s Top Pick:

1. TUNFUND Viper Youth Sunglasses

  • Amazing packaging
  • Feels super quality opening the box
  • 3 interchangeable lenses (4 total)
  • Super cool look
  • Hards case, soft case
  • Lanyard

Kids comment: “These ones are sweet. I want to wear these… ROCK AND ROLL”

These glasses felt great to open. Great packaging with tons of extras. You really felt like you were getting a super-quality product. There were extra lenses and instructions for which lens to use in each situation. Very impressed with this brand!

As an old-school baseball guy, this style seems like a little much for my generation, but my kids and other teammates are showing up with this style of glasses regularly.

The bright, colorful, wide-lens look makes kids feel swagged out, and if it gives them a little extra confidence as a coach, I am all about it!

These glasses also came with the most value with 4 totally different color lens options, a hard and soft case, and a lanyard.

One challenge we run into with glasses is our kids lose at least 2-3 pairs every baseball season, so the lanyard helps keep the case strapped to the baseball bag and helps my kids remember to put their glasses back in the right place instead of left in the dugout somewhere after games!

2.Rawlings Mirror Sunglasses

  • Real slick looking glasses
  • Low profile frame shape
  • Great fit for kids
  • Looks good under the hat

Kid comment: “I really like the way these ones feel”

We picked these Rawlings Youth Baseball Sunglasses up at Dicks Sportings goods. My kids loved the style, and they are super practical glasses. Very lightweight and stylish. You can tell they are quality, however they dont include any extras.

With Rawlings, you know you are always getting high-quality gear, and these glasses have been no exception. These are one of the only wide lens styles that fit great under the hat and are designed perfectly for most kids heads. My kids also love the orange lenses on these sunglasses from Rawlings.

I would recommend buying a case for these since there isn’t one included, so you can prevent the lenses from getting scratched or broken.

If the glasses get thrown into bat bags without a case, the bags often get tossed around, and we have learned our lesson over the years and always make our kids use a case to help with longevity.

3.BEACOOL Polarized Sports Sunglasses

  • Great packaging. Came in a box and felt quality to open
  • A tool keychain included that helps change lenses
  • Hard and soft case plus cleaning pad
  • All felt really quality

Kid comment: “I really like these glasses. They look and feel great. Can I have these ones?

Opening up this box and packaging was great. There is a very quality feel as you open the boxes. There was a nice thank-you note inside with some contact information in case the product was not up to your quality.

There were a ton of accessories in the box, including a hard and soft case and an additional cloth, all of which felt very quality. If you are looking for baseball kids’ sunglasses that are more versatile outside of the baseball field, these sunglasses from BeCool could be a great option.

This style of sunglasses is popular in baseball, but it also could work for other outdoor sports or even be worn casually. The packaging on this brand was top quality and came with a hard case, lens cleaner pad, and keychain.

4.Rawlings Youth Baseball  Mirror Sunglasses

  • Great fit
  • Soft rubber nose pad
  • Looks good under the hat
  • Versatile for use outside of baseball

Kid comment: “These glasses are sweet”

Another pair we picked up at Dicks Sporting Goods. Very well-made glasses look and feel great. They fit great under my kids hats, and really help on those sunny days.

These lenses aren’t as big as the model above, but they still provide plenty of coverage and are very lightweight. Be sure to note things like the weight of glasses that you consider since there are some sunglasses that have metal frames that can be a little too heavy for baseball.

What I like most about this pair is that they can fit a wide variety of kids’ head sizes easily.

5. Franklin Flip-up Sunglasses

  • Flip up technology
  • Cool MLB logo
  • Looks and feels quality

Kid comment: “I really like how they flip up, but they feel a little big”

These sunglasses are great for players who want to flip their glasses up and down during a fly ball. The look is very cool, and kids will notice a player with these slick glasses.

They were a little big for my little guys (5-7-year-olds) but I could see these being a very good choice for an older 9-12 year range.

Flip-up sunglasses have been commonplace in baseball for nearly 50 years, and this pair from Franklin is a great option for kids. Not all baseball players want to wear glasses all the time and only want eye protection for fly balls when looking into the sun. When there is a fly ball, these flip-up glasses allow for a quick way to flip down the glasses so players can quickly identify the baseball, even if it’s hit directly into the sun.

6. Xagger Youth Polarized Sunglasses

  • Really cool blue color. Both lenses and case really pop
  • Great fit for kids
  • Fit great under a hat

Kids comment: “They fit great and look really cool, the case looks super sweet”

My kids and I loved the blue color of the box, glasses, and soft cloth case it came with. Felt super fresh and cool.

The nose grip and arm grips make it easy to be active without the glasses moving around much.

They are very lightweight and have good-looking glasses. Also, the very clever tagline “Zig your Zag” is printed on the box. If you want your sunglasses to match the rest of your uniform, Xagger offers a variety of colors to choose from. As youth baseball uniforms get more stylish, you might as well go all in and get a matching pair of sunglasses so your baseball drip game in on point as well!

7.ZAKVOP Polarized Sunglasses

  • Hard case included
  • Great look
  • 3 total lenses

Kid comment: “They feel perfect. They look super cool, but wish the sides were a little shorter.”

These glasses came in a hard case direct from the seller. There was no extra packaging or box around it.

The glasses look very cool, and the kids loved them. The arms are made of light plastic, which could perform well on the field.

These sunglasses have more of the traditional baseball look, which covers a wide surface area to help block the sun.

Regarding value, this pair of glasses is tough to beat as they came with 3 pairs of extra lenses, a hard protective case, and an earpiece attachment for younger kids.

My kids vary in age and what I like about this paid is that any one of my kids can grab them before practice and head out to the park.

8. Cabule Polarized Youth Sunglasses

  • Extra set of arms
  • Awesome splatter paint design
  • A little big for kids under 10

Kid comment: “These look super cool, but they are a little big for my face”

My kids loved the look of these glasses. The splatter design looked great. They came with an extra set of arms, giving you room to grow into them.

They did seem a little big for my 5 to 7-year-olds, but they would fit a little bigger face perfectly.

This model from Polarized has your typical baseball look to them and is a great alternative to some of the more expensive brands.

We typically go through 2-3 pairs of sunglasses per kid each season, and for really sunny days, our older kids seem to like this wide lens style compared to smaller lenses.

9. XLOOP Half Frame Sunglasses

  • Lightweight
  • Great fit
  • Good fit under the hat
  • No cases or extra lenses

Kids comment: “These fit perfect”

Very good, lightweight glasses. The box seemed cheap to open and tear, and I tried to get into it, but I have been pleased with the glasses so far.

This is another style of youth sunglasses that are great for baseball but also could work for golf, running, etc.

We keep this pair in our car for the kids, and they will sometimes wear these during long car rides.

These glasses styles also fit very well under my kid’s hats.

I have one son who likes to fold the brim of his hat in a big curve, so not every sunglass style fits great.

With the smaller glasses like these from Xloop, my kid’s hat curve isn’t affected, which he loves and makes these glasses one of the most common pairs he wears.

As they say in baseball, “you look good, you feel good, you play good!”

10. X Loop Sports Sunglasses

  • Light weight
  • Very Sylish
  • Fits great under a hat
  • Good arm grip to keep them in place
  • No hard case
  • No extra lenses

These are very similar to the regular Xloop glasses, but they have a clear frame that gives them a cool look.

Both these and the regular x loops are very light and versatile, which great for younger players.

There are 20! Different color variations to choose from, so if you want your kid’s shades to match their uniforms, you won’t have any issues!

5 things to consider when buying youth baseball sunglasses

1.Team uniforms

Youth baseball uniforms have evolved quite a bit in recent years with bright colors that really make them stand out.

If you invest in youth baseball sunglasses, be sure to pick a pair that matches your team colors or is a neutral color (like white, grey, or black) that will work with a variety of different uniform colors.

2.Durability

One of the most frustrating experiences is buying baseball gear that won’t make it through the season.

With baseball sunglasses, the key to increasing longevity is to make sure the sunglasses you buy come with a nice hard case included or that you buy one. Baseball gear gets thrown around and sunglasses are typically left in baseball bags or backpacks. No matter how nice sunglasses are they can and will get broken if you aren’t careful with them.

3.Cost

Kids are kids who will forget to put their sunglasses on from time to time, leave them at the field, or a teammate may accidentally break them.

We have always bought baseball sunglasses for under $50 because of these variables and havent had any regrets.

At this age, kids are still trying to learn the game and how to take care of their equipment. After each practice or game, it seems like one item is always missing from their baseball bag like a batting glove, helmet, etc.

So, remember that sunglasses are an accessory item, not a necessity. Investing in high-quality baseball pants, baseball gloves, and bats will be a better place to spend money on high quality gear while you can find a great pair of budget youth baseball sunglasses like the ones listed above

4. Weight

Heavy baseball sunglasses can get annoying for young players in long games or practices, and lighter sunglasses are best for youth players.

Most of the sunglasses designed for youth baseball are built with lightweight materials because of this fact, so remember that not any regular pair of youth sunglasses you may have lying around the house are going to be great baseball sunglasses.

5. Lens quality

Many of the sunglasses listed above come with various lenses, which is great because different tints are ideal for different weather conditions.

There may be very bright cloudless days where you need a darker tint and lighter tint grey lenses for cloudy, sunny days.

Many of the top options on the market are built for various weather conditions; others come with the flexibility and tools needed to swap out lenses easily.

Be sure to read reviews on lenses since this is the whole point of the sunglasses.

Final Word

Having gone through my share of baseball sunglasses as a former player and now as a parent, I hope this article gave you some good ideas of what to be on the lookout for.

When I attend a youth baseball game or tournament its shocking to see how many kids wear youth baseball sunglasses compared to when I played little league.

The styles and colors of regular glasses and youth baseball sunglasses glasses have evolved over time, and who knows what types of glasses kids will wear 5 to 10 years from now.

At this rate, kids may be wearing ski goggles, for all I know!
