Cano Fires Boras and MLB Updates

Bryce Harper – He’s only 20 years old and he has a full beard…

Carlos Marmol – Pulled from the save chance yesterday. Russell replaced him, but Fujikawa came in to get the 2 pitch save.  Sveum says Marmol’s still the closer, but you can’t imagine his leash will be too long.

John Axford – Already blew a save. He’s going to be the first closer to go, if he hasn’t already.  Pick up Henderson and Gonzalez in that order as the handcuff.

New York Yankees – Who’s on first? What’s on second? I don’t know is on third? That pretty much sums up their lineup for yesterday…

Robinson Cano – Fired Scott Boras, or Agent Smith [The Matrix] as all MLB teams probably refer to him as. Apparently Cano is not liking the way Boras is handling his contract details with the Yanks. Instead, Cano is hiring CAA as his new representation in part because of their affiliation with Roc Nation, a marketing company founded by Jay-Z. Brodie Van Wagenen will be Cano’s new agent.

Elvis Andrus – The Rangers have him locked up for the next 6 years at minimum, and possibly as long as 11 years.  There goes my Bold Prediction

Phil Coke – Got the save for Detroit yesterday. They’re going to use a Mash-up of Match-ups with Coke, Benoit, Al, and eventually Rondon.

Jon Lester – Looked good yesterday, but he was also pitching against the Yankees. I never thought that sentence would come out. I still like Lester this year as I think he’ll have a “comeback-year.”

Carl Crawford – 2 for 4 with a run and was also caught stealing. If you took the risk, it was worth it.

Alex Rodriguez – Returned to Yankee Stadium for this first time since undergoing hip surgery. He skipped the team introduction because he didn’t want to subject himself to a Yankee crowd, which booed him in his last appearance in the ALCS.

Justin Maxwell – Had 2 triples in the opener. One should have went for an inside-the-parker, but his showboating limited that. Keep an eye on him.

Jackie Bradley JR. – Drew 3 walks and scored twice. Also, keep an eye on him, if he’s not already added.

Yonder Alonso – Hit 3rd for the Padres and came through with a homer. The once highly regarded prospect may be someone to turn to if you’re really hurting at the 1B position.
