Jameis Winston Wants to Play for Yankees or Braves?

Jameis Winston is undoubtedly in the driver seat for the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. But, could you imagine your franchise quarterback not being fully entrenched in football? Winston is also an outfielder/pitcher for the Seminoles’ baseball team.

Winston spoke about the possibility of playing both sports professionally:
“You can do anything you put your mind to. A lot of people are going to say, no way, he’s a quarterback, Bo Jackson was a running back. But if I put my mind to it — and the one thing I always seem to do is gain the trust of my teammates — if I can convince those guys I can be your quarterback and still go play baseball for the Atlanta Braves or New York Yankees…”

Winston was actually drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2012 MLB Draft. In 17 appearances, Winston had a 3.00 ERA and 2 saves for the baseball team in 2013. His fastball has been clocked at 97 MPH. Here are some highlights from his baseball season.

Just by looking at him, he looks like he should be mashing the ball. His swing looks more like a doubles hitter instead of a power hitter. As far as his pitching goes, I would not want to be in the batter’s box looking like a fool like these hitters.

Winston looks to Bo Jackson as a role model when it comes to two-sport athletes.
“No one can be Bo Jackson. I mean, the guy if he wouldn’t have gotten hurt probably would have been in the Hall of Fame in both baseball and football. So that’s something that’s unrealistic. But I’m not going to tell myself I can’t do that.”

Winston will definitely have some major decisions to make. However, how awesome would it be to see Jameis Winston pitching to Russell Wilson of the Texas Rangers?
