According to Sports Illustrated, the Cleveland Cavaliers have an agreement to sign LeBron James and return home. James met with Pat Riley on Wednesday in Las Vegas to let him know of his intentions to leave Miami. The Cavaliers were able to clear enough cap space by trading Jarrett Jack, Tyler Zeller, and Sergey Karesav in a 3 team trade involving the Celtics and Nets. One of the main reasons LeBron had left the Cavaliers back in 2010 was that he had no help. Let’s take a look at the potential starting lineups for the Cavaliers between his last year in Cleveland and also this coming season.
2014-2015
PG – Kyrie Irving
SG – Andrew Wiggins
SF – LeBron James
PF – Tristan Thompson
C – Anderson Vaerjao
2009-2010
PG – Mo Williams
SG – Anthony Parker
SF – LeBron James
PF – Anderson Vaerjao
C – Shaquille O’Neal
Talk about an upgrade! There is much speculation that the Cavaliers are not done with their offseason moves. After the trade involving Jarrett Jack occurred, it opened up $24 million dollars in cap space. LeBron’s deal is believed to be the 4 year $96 million max offer. He could have signed with Miami for 5 years at $129 million. The Cavs/Kevin Love deal was contingent on LeBron signing with the Cavs. Adding Kevin Love to the Cavaliers roster would almost certainly mean moving 2014 Number 1 Overall pick, Andrew Wiggins (sorry if you already bought his jersey). Even if they do move Wiggins, Love is on record of saying that he would sign a long term deal with the Cavaliers if they brought on LeBron. Cavs fans, the good news has just begun!
