Former Seahawks Wide Receiver, Percy Harvin, who the team traded to the Jets in October, will be paid at least $58,500 in bonuses since the Seattle Seahawks made this year’s Super Bowl XLIX.
Under the NFL’s salary rules, players on teams that make the playoffs are rewarded “set amounts” paid by the NFL. The players that are rewarded are ones on the current roster, from backup QB – backup Punter. Players that have spent 8 Weeks or more with the team are guaranteed to make money for a divisional playoff game. Players that are on the team for 3-8 Weeks are guaranteed half that pay. Since Harvin spent 5 Weeks with the Seattle Seahawks, he’s guaranteed half-pay for each playoff win.
Divisional Win:
For Seattle’s Divisional Win against Carolina, players get $24,000. Harvin will get $12,000.
Conference Win:
For Seattle’s NFC Championship win against Green Bay, players get $44,000. Harvin will get $22,000.
Super Bowl XLIX Win:
For The Super Bowl winner, each player receives $97,000. The loser, $49,000. Harvin will receive $24,500 if Seattle loses, or $48,500 if Seattle wins.
Percy Harvin has already earned $34,000 while watching the Seattle Seahawks from home this post-season. Harvin is guaranteed a total of $58,500 (if Seattle loses). If the Seahawks become back-to-back World Champions, Harvin’s total post-season income will be $82,500. Pretty good for a guy sitting’ on the couch at home!
