Tavon Austin: Everybody Expects Money From Me

Just a few weeks ago, Tavon Austin was selected 8th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. Austin is now attempting to comprehend and perfect an NFL Offense much different from one used at West Virginia.

Austin’s biggest obstacle since coming into the NFL is not learning the offense; it’s dealing with everything and everyone when the “Fame-And-Fortune” come into play, according to the Rams Official Website.

“I’ve got a lot of cousins now. The whole (city of) Baltimore is my cousin now. We’re going to just try to keep focused and let my mother and all of them handle it.”

Austin is from a rough area in Baltimore, which is why many NFL teams passed on him during the draft in fear that his past “contacts” would follow him into his career in the NFL. This is one of the many pitfalls that NFL players with bad pasts attract and is detrimental to their future in the NFL.

“Everybody expects a lot of things from you as far as money. Everybody wants to be around you. My phone doesn’t stop ringing now. It feels like they’re counting my bank account now. So that’s probably the hardest thing for me right now, just people.

The concerning part is when looking at Austin’s Twitter Activity. It’s safe to say it won’t be surprising if we hear of any off-field issues from Austin. Here’s a look at who he’s recently followed… Image via – Larry Brown Sports
