The Smoak Monster – MLB Updates

Justin Smoak – The former top prospect has lead the Mariners to a 2-0 start batting .462 with 2 HR’s and 7 RBI’s. Pick ‘Em up!

Desmond Jenning
s – Speaking of Smoaking the ball, Desmond Jennings is off to a hot start with multiple hits in 2 of 3 games. Keep him in your lineups today as he faces Brandon Morrow, of which he owns a .538 average in 13 at-bats.

Alexei Ramirez
– If you’ve been reading Legion Report, you know we’ve been telling you to punt the SS position and add Alexei Ramirez as your starting SS. Acquiring Ramirez with his late round value is a steal, considering how he never gets the respect he deserves. The 32 year old is hitting .667 to start the season with 2 SB’s.

Yasiel Puig
– Puig has had 19 runners on base this season while up at the plate, yet he only has 4 RBI’s. Don’t sell him short yet, even though everyone else is.

Martin Prado
– Prado has had 14 plate appearances with runners on this season and has a depressing 3 hits and 3 RBI’s.

Max Scherzer
– 8 IP, 0 Earned Runs, 5 Base Runners, 7 K’s and Joe Nathan blew his save.

Sergio Santos
– Came in with two outs in the ninth, threw a six-pitch walk and was pulled for Brett Cecil. Santos was quickly named the replacement closer for Janssen, but if his struggles continue look forward to Cecil swiping the role away from him.

Jim Johnson
– Has blown 2 saves in 2 appearances against the Indians this series. His leash is still long enough. Ryan Cook and Sean Doolittle would share a committee role if Johnson were to lose it.

Nate Jones
– He walked Josh Willingham and then gave up a double to Jason Kubel and a single to Trevor Plouffe and then was pulled. In his defense, their was a rain delay.

Josh Fields
– 1 IP, 0 Earned Runs, 1 Save. The Closer by Committee approach in Houston will most likely be lead by Fields. It’s nearly impossible to predict, but Crain will be out longer than expected as he has yet to throw off a mound this year!

Joe Nathan
– 22 pitches, 2 Walks, 1 Hit and 1 Earned Run for the blown save yesterday. His fastball, which was down to a career low last year (92 MPH) and the fact he has yet to strike anyone out is concerning for Nathan owners.

Jonathan Papelbon
– 1/3 IP, 4 Hits, 3 Earned Runs 2 BB’s, 1 K. More like Jo-Nathan Papelbon.

LaTroy Hawkins
– Needed 36 pitches to close yesterdays game for the Rox. Should expect to see Rex come in and close today if the opportunity arises.

Jose Veras
– 38 pitches, 1 IP, 2 BB’s, 1 ER. Was never really a fan of Veras, his stuff gets hit way too much for a closer. Expect him to lose the job sometime this season.

Emilio Bonifacio
– 10 for 13 to start the season with 4 SB’s. Pick him up, while he’s hot. It won’t last long.

James Paxton
– 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 9 Ks. The once highly regarded Mariners Prospect is worth the add, but I’m picking up Erasmo Ramirez first with his Sunday start in Oakland.
