Week 1 – Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em

SIT ‘EM

QUARTERBACKS

Cam Newton at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cam Newton isn’t going to sit out the first game of the season against a Divisional Rival, Tampa Bay Bucs. Cam Newton will play banged up. Newton is already nursing an ankle in which he recently had surgery on as well as multiple hairline fractures in his ribs. With a brand new set of WR’s, a league worst Offensive Line and going into Tampa Bay against a Lovie Smith (and Legion Report Sleeper) Defense – we’re staying away form Cam in Week 1.

RUNNING BACKS

Rashad Jennings at Detroit Lions

After a very strong Pre-Season performance Jennings looks to be the “Bell-Cow” back for the Giants this season as Rookie Runner Andre Williams was determined “too raw” for the Giants. Jennings will face a Lions Run Defense that ranked 6th in the NFL last season. While Jennings and the Giants horrid Offensive Line will face Suh, Fairley, Ansah and their stout run D, we’re expecting the Giants to stray away from the Run early on as the Lions will likely open this one up from the gates!

Toby Gerhart at Philadelphia Eagles

Odds are, you don’t have the depth to sit runner Toby Gerhart against the emerging Philadelphia Eagles 3-4 Defense led by Bill Davis. Last season this defense started slow as linebacker Mychael Kendricks said it wasn’t until about the middle of the season until everything started to come together – and it showed. After Week 5 in 2014, the Eagles D only allowed teams to score 21+ points in 3 of their final 11 games, which includes a streak of 6 straight weeks under 21 points. It’s a pretty good chance the Eagles blow the Jaguars out in Philly in Week 1, which would put the running game to a halt. If you have the depth, we recommend staying away from Gerhart in this one.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Keenan Allen at Arizona Cardinals

Like Gerhart, we don’t expect Fantasy Owners have the depth to sit Allen in Week 1. What isn’t going for Allen in this Week 1 matchup in Arizona is that he will square off against Top Corner Patrick Peterson. We don’t necessarily recommend benching Allen, but temper your expectations. Read our Potential Keenan Allen Bust Article Here

Kelvin Benjamin at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With Cam Newton a Game Time Decision (and will likely play) we still don’t like Benjamin going up against Bucs Corner Alterraun Verner in Tampa Bay. We recommend straying away from this rookie in his NFL debut.

Mike Wallace vs New England Patriots

I heard there’s a storm coming and no flights are departing Revis Island. Looks like Wallace will be stranded yet again.

TIGHT ENDS

Kyle Rudolph at St. Louis Rams

Rudolph will travel to St. Louis against a Rams Defense that led the league in guarding  Tight Ends last season, allowing only 5.o Fantasy Points Per game. We love Rudolph’s potential for the 2014 season, just temper your expectations in his Week 1 matchup
