Week 2 – Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em

SIT ‘EM

QUARTERBACK

Philip Rivers vs Seattle Seahawks

I don’t think I’ll be starting any QB’s against the Seahawks this season and I don’t foresee Rivers doing any better than Packers Aaron Rodgers (who has more weapons than Rivers), even if they game is in San Diego. A recent gambling site has set the Over/Under to how many times Rivers will throw the ball Seahawks CB Richard Sherman’s way, at 3 targets! That’s not good news for Keenan Allen if Pete Carroll wants Sherman sticking on him the entire game!

RUNNING BACKS

Reggie Bush at Carolina Panthers

Reggie Bush takes on a Carolina Defense that ranked 2nd in the league against the run last season and only let Doug Martin rush for 9 yards on 9 carries in Week 1. While Joique Bell will continue to get the goal line carries don’t expect to see any TD’s out of Reggie Bush this week. In 7 career game against Carolina, Reggie Bush has only 1 career TD. Reggie Bush will remain a better PPR play than Standard, but should be considered a risk in both types!

Doug Martin vs St. Louis Rams

Assuming he’s going to play (he returned to limited practice today) Dougie takes on a Rams Defense that only allowed Vikings RB Adrian Peterson to rush for 75 yards on 21 attempts. The Rams front 7 is one of the best, if not best in the league. With their shaky secondary look for Tampa to strike through the air rather than by ground in this Week 2 Battle.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Victor Cruz vs Arizona Cardinals

The Giants Defense said their Offense would be a work in progress as they incorporated a new scheme and boy where they ever right! Eli Manning only passed for 144 yards against a decent Detroit Lions Pass Defense while throwing Victor Cruz’ way only 6 times! The Giants were expected to use this new quick hitting scheme to Cruz’ advantage, but instead they lined him up on the outside making him run vertical routes the entire game. Cruz exited his poor Week 1 performance catching only 2 balls (and dropping 2 balls) for 24 yards. Cruz is expected to face one of the best corners in the NFL this week in Patrick Peterson. We’re avoiding all Giants players until they figure out what’s going on.

Stay-Away DraftKings Play: $6,000

Keenan Allen vs Seattle Seahawks

Keenan Allen isn’t the fastest of WR’s (he’s pretty slow if you didn’t catch the sarcasm.) Allen will face the super speedy Seattle secondary this week, which is not good news for Fantasy Owners. A recent gambling site has set the Over/Under to how many times Rivers will throw the ball Seahawks CB Richard Sherman’s way, at 3 targets! That’s not good news for Keenan Allen if Pete Carroll wants Sherman sticking on him the entire game!

Stay-Away DraftKings Play: $5,400

TIGHT ENDS

Martellus Bennett vs San Francisco 49ers

Bennett faces a SF Defense that only allowed Dallas TE Jason Witten to cacth 2 balls for 14 yards on 6 targets in Week 1. The 49ers were fair against guarding the Tight Ends position last season, as they only allowed opposing TE’s to score 7.0 points per game. If Marshall and/or Jeffery miss their Week 2 matchup, Cutler may be forced to go The Black Unicorns way.

DEFENSE

Minnesota Vikings vs New England Patriots

Their tough front seven won’t be the deciding factor for Tom Brady and the Patriots Top 5 Offensive Line. Minnesota’s Weak Secondary will be exposed by Tom Brady this weekend. Don’t let the big game against the Rams last week act as an optical illusion in starting Minnesota against the Patriots in Week 2.
