The MLB Little League Classic is a regular-season Major League Baseball game played each August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, during the Little League World Series — big leaguers playing a real game that counts, in a 2,500-seat minor league park, in front of a crowd made up largely of the 10-to-12-year-olds competing for the youth title down the road. Why It Works
Most stadium spectacles trade on scale; the Classic trades on the opposite. The players spend the afternoon as fans — in the Lamade bleachers, on the hill, trading pins — and then play a game that counts in front of the kids they just sat with, close enough that every seat at Bowman Field is better than a front-row seat anywhere else in the majors.
