A Genuine In-State Game
Tulsa and Oklahoma State are separated by roughly 70 miles of Oklahoma highway. They recruit the same high schools, and their fanbases overlap enough that the game has real local temperature.
Notably, Oklahoma State is the visitor. Power Four programs usually buy home games rather than travel to Group of Five stadiums, so this is the more interesting arrangement of the two.
Tulsa’s Home Advantage
Chapman Stadium holds around 30,000 — a fraction of Boone Pickens Stadium, and a very different atmosphere from what Oklahoma State’s players are used to. Smaller venues with a full, invested crowd can be more disruptive than half-empty large ones.
For Tulsa, hosting a Big 12 program is the biggest home date of the season.
