Wyoming vs. Colorado State: Time, TV Channel and How to Watch

Wyoming and Colorado State open their seasons against each other on Saturday, September 5, at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, with kickoff at 6 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. Mountain, on USA Network. It is the 118th Border War, the earliest in a season the two have ever played it, and the first game Colorado State plays as a member of the Pac-12. There is no meeting scheduled for 2027, which makes this one carry more than usual.

How to Watch

USA Network carries the game nationally, which puts it on standard cable and satellite packages and on every major live TV streaming service. Peacock simulcasts USA Network’s sports broadcasts, so a standalone Peacock subscription works without a cable login. Both schools’ radio networks carry it, and the Wyoming call is on the 26 stations of the Cowboy Sports Network with Keith Kelley on play by play.

The Series

Colorado State leads the all time series 60 wins, 52 losses and 5 ties across 117 games since 1899, and the two have played every year since 1946. Wyoming leads the Bronze Boot era, which began in 1967, 32 to 26, and holds a 14 to 13 edge in Mountain West meetings. Wyoming’s longest run was ten straight from 1956 to 1965. The largest margin was a 61 to 0 Colorado Agricultural win in 1913. The Border War is tied for the third oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi behind Cal-Stanford and Oregon-Oregon State.

Wyoming won last year’s game 28 to 0 in Laramie in front of a capacity crowd and took the Boot back after Colorado State’s 24 to 10 win in Fort Collins in 2024.

Why This One Is Different

Colorado State left the Mountain West for the Pac-12 this summer and Wyoming stayed, which ends the conference version of the rivalry. The schools agreed to keep playing as non-conference opponents, but the schedules did not line up for 2027, so after Saturday the Border War goes dark for a year before resuming in 2028. A 2036 game in Laramie has also been added. This is also the first time the game has been the season opener for both, and the first time it has been played before mid September.

The Teams

Colorado State is in its first season under Jim Mora, who said this week that the quarterback competition could carry into the opener and might be settled during the Rams’ first offensive series. Wyoming is in its third season under Jay Sawvel, with running back Sam Harris, who led the team with 558 yards last year and ran for 126 against Colorado, the returning offensive centrepiece. Colorado State is a 3.5 point favourite at home.

The Bottom Line

Wyoming at Colorado State kicks off at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 5 on USA Network, streaming on Peacock. It is the 118th Border War, the first as a non-conference game, Colorado State’s Pac-12 debut, and the last meeting until 2028. Colorado State leads the series 60 to 52 and 5, Wyoming holds the Bronze Boot, and the Rams are favoured by a field goal. Our Saturday schedule has every game on the day.
