The Shooting Season Nobody Is Talking About
The numbers are the story. Mitchell is shooting 51.3% from the field, 45.5% from three and 84.2% from the line while carrying the largest scoring load on a team that won 26 of its first 40 games. Shooting splits in that range at that volume are rare in any league, and she is doing it as the primary option rather than as a spot up shooter working off Clark.
That last part matters. The easy version of this team’s story is that Clark creates and everyone else finishes, and Clark’s 8.4 assists per game support part of it. But Mitchell has been the leading scorer, has played more minutes than anyone on the roster, and posted the best statistical season of her career in 2025 as well, when she averaged 19.2 points while Clark was limited to 13 games.
