The Storylines
Shipley and Kohles are both chasing a first career PGA Tour win. Shipley is 25 and has posted three straight bogey-free rounds to get here, a turnaround after a rough first full season on Tour. Kohles matched his 65 on Saturday and birdied the last to stay within one.
Jackson Koivun is the name to watch from behind. The 21-year-old rookie entered the week as the betting favorite, shot a bogey-free 63 on Saturday to climb 13 spots, and is the youngest member of the United States Presidents Cup team. Jacob Bridgeman, a captain’s pick for that same team, sits at 16 under.
This is the first Biltmore Championship and the first PGA Tour event in the Asheville area since 1942. It opens the FedExCup Fall, with the Presidents Cup at Medinah next week.
