How the Assists Race Works
Up to two players can be credited with an assist on every goal, so assists pile up faster than goals. Elite playmaking centers and top pair defensemen lead this list.
| Assists | The last two players to touch the puck before a goal, excluding the scorer |
| Elite pace | 70 or more assists in a season |
| Very good | 55 to 69 |
| Strong playmaker | 40 to 54 |
The board updates automatically through the season and switches to the playoff race in April. Early in the season the list moves a lot from night to night.
