Dabo Swinney earns $11.5 million a year at Clemson on a 10 year, $115 million contract that runs through the 2031 season. Clemson would owe him $57 million if it fired him without cause this year.

Why the Buyout Matters
After a rough start to 2025, some Clemson fans called for a change, and Swinney answered that if Clemson was tired of winning it could send him on his way. The contract makes that unlikely: the buyout is $57 million this year and becomes every remaining dollar from 2027 on, on top of the roughly $10 million a year a replacement would cost. Swinney has two national titles (2016 and 2018) and eight ACC titles at Clemson.
The Bottom Line
Dabo Swinney makes $11.5 million a year on a 10 year, $115 million Clemson contract through 2031, rising to $12.5 million in its final year. Clemson would owe him $57 million to fire him in 2026, and the full remaining salary after that. Follow the Tigers on the Clemson football schedule, Clemson score today and Clemson NIL.
