The takeaway
Texas now leads all CWS programs with 39 appearances after making the 2026 field — 14 more than runner-up Miami (25). The 2026 tournament includes 8 programs: Texas (39th trip), North Carolina (13th), Oklahoma (12th), Ole Miss/Georgia (7th each), Alabama (6th), plus Troy and West Virginia making first-ever appearances in school history. Only five programs have made 20+ trips to Omaha: Texas, Miami, Florida State, Arizona State, and USC. Florida State holds the unique distinction of being the most successful program never to win a national title.

The CWS dynasty programs

Just five programs have made 20 or more College World Series trips: Texas (39), Miami (25), Florida State (24), Arizona State (22), and USC (21). These five account for roughly 22% of every CWS appearance ever — across nearly 8 decades of tournament history. Texas alone has played over 150 total CWS games and posted an 88-63+ lifetime record in Omaha. Florida State stands out as arguably the best program never to win a championship — 24 appearances and three runner-up finishes, but zero titles. The 2026 tournament also marks history for two first-time programs: Troy and West Virginia both reached Omaha for the first time in school history.
