Where FCS Games Are Streamed
Almost no FCS football reaches national cable. The subdivision is carried almost entirely on conference streaming platforms, which is the single most common reason people cannot find a game.

Why So Many FCS Teams Play at FBS Stadiums in September
These are guarantee games. An FBS program pays a visiting FCS school a flat fee, commonly several hundred thousand dollars, to travel and play a non conference game with no return trip. For many athletic departments below the FBS level, one or two of those checks fund a meaningful share of the football budget for the year.
It is why an FCS team will open its season two time zones away against a ranked opponent. The result is usually predictable, but the money is not optional. The upsets that do happen, and there are several every season, are among the most memorable results in the sport.
How the FCS Season Ends
Unlike the FBS, the FCS decides its champion with a 24 team playoff rather than a committee selected bracket of four or twelve. Conference champions receive automatic bids and the rest of the field is at large, with the top eight seeds receiving first round byes. The championship game is played in January.
