Ladd McConkey is day to day with a rib injury, and his status for Sunday’s game against the Raiders is up in the air. The Chargers receiver took a big hit from Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. going across the middle late in the third quarter of the 26-14 loss to Arizona, left for the locker room and did not return. Further testing Monday showed no long term damage, according to reports, and coach Jim Harbaugh said the team will see how he progresses through the week before deciding.
The Status
| Player | Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers |
| Injury | Ribs (initially listed as chest) |
| Coach’s word | Day to day (Harbaugh, Monday) |
| Week 1 line before exit | 5 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD on 7 targets |
| Next game | Sunday, Sept. 20 vs. Las Vegas, 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS |
What It Means
McConkey was the Chargers’ leading receiver before he left and was expected to be the centerpiece of new coordinator Mike McDaniel’s passing game. If he sits, Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris become Justin Herbert’s top two receivers against a Raiders defense that held Miami to 13 points. Los Angeles is a 7 point favorite after losing outright as a 9.5 point favorite in Week 1. Fantasy managers should plan without him until he practices; the Chargers’ Wednesday report had not been published at the time of writing.
