The Green Bay move has a clear cause. Micah Parsons opened the year on injured reserve while he recovers from an ACL tear, and running back Josh Jacobs is on the commissioner’s exempt list, so the Packers arrive in Minneapolis short on both sides of the ball. Minnesota, meanwhile, settled its quarterback question when Kyler Murray beat out J.J. McCarthy for the Week 1 job.

The Storylines Driving the Prices
Seahawks -3.5 over the Patriots. A Super Bowl LX rematch to open the season, and Seattle won that game 29-13 as a 4.5-point favorite. The line has drifted down from a 4.5 peak in June, which says the market respects New England more now than it did then.
Chiefs -3 on Monday night. Patrick Mahomes is returning from a torn ACL. That is the single biggest unknown on the board and the reason a Chiefs home game against a division rival is priced this short.
Cowboys -3 at the Giants. John Harbaugh’s first game in charge of New York, and Jaxson Dart’s first Week 1 start. Dallas moving from -2.5 through the key number of 3 is the most meaningful half point on the slate.
Rams -3.5 in Melbourne. The Rams are the Super Bowl favorites and have taken most of the money since this line opened. The 49ers had a rough preseason.
How to Read the Numbers
The spread is the margin the favorite has to win by. Seahawks -3.5 means Seattle must win by four or more; taking the Patriots wins if New England loses by three or fewer or wins outright. The total is the combined score, and you bet whether the real number lands over or under it. The moneyline is a straight bet on who wins, where a minus number is what you risk to win 100 and a plus number is what 100 returns.
The Bottom Line
