How the Two Weeks Are Structured
The 2026 edition keeps the 15-day main draw the US Open adopted in 2025, which pushed the start onto a Sunday and gave the first round three days instead of two. Every round from the second through the quarterfinals is split across two days, with the top half and bottom half of each draw alternating. That’s why a player can win on Monday and not play again until Wednesday.
Fan Week is the other structural piece worth knowing. Qualifying, Kids’ Day and the Mixed Doubles Championship all happen before the main draw begins, and most of it is free to attend — a genuinely good way to see high-level tennis without a ticket. The mixed doubles event moved into this window in 2025 and stayed there. Full official listings are at USOpen.org; for the money at stake, see our US Open prize money breakdown.
The Bottom Line
Main draw runs Sunday, August 30 through Sunday, September 13. First round takes three days, everything through the quarterfinals takes two, and then it’s one semifinal day per draw: women on Thursday the 10th, men on Friday the 11th. The women’s final is Saturday, September 12 at 4 p.m. ET and the men’s final is Sunday, September 13 at 2 p.m. ET, both on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
