USC Football Depth Chart 2026: Starters and Position Breakdown

Updated Friday, September 4, 2026. This is USC’s official depth chart, published by the athletic department on September 2 for the Fresno State game. USC updates it before every game; this page follows each release and the box score.

No. 14 USC is 1-0 after beating San Jose State 42-26 in Week 0, and the second official chart of the season puts two injured defensive linemen, Jahkeem Stewart and Braylan Shelby, back in the two deep and lists receiver Tanook Hines first at his spot after he did not dress for the opener. The bigger story is how much of the nation’s top rated 2026 recruiting class is already starting: freshmen Trent Mosley, Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, Mark Bowman, Luke Wafle and Rock Hill are all in the first unit.

Position Breakdown

Quarterback. Jayden Maiava is the starter. The backup is an OR between Sam Huard and freshman Jonas Williams.

Running back. Waymond Jordan and King Miller are co-starters. Freshmen Shahn Alston (seven carries, a touchdown) and Deshonne Redeaux (two carries for 26 yards plus three kick returns) both flashed in Week 0; Riley Wormley is the listed No. 3 but has work to do to hold it.

Receiver. A three way OR at one spot between sophomore Corey Simms, who broke out against San Jose State, Tanook Hines, back from missing Week 0, and freshman Tron Baker. Freshmen Trent Mosley and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt start the other two spots, with Mosley also on punt returns.

Tight end. Freshman Mark Bowman starts over three veterans in a three way OR behind him.

Offensive line. Elijah Paige, Hayden Treter, Tobias Raymond, Alani Noa and Justin Tauanuu, left to right. Two freshmen, Vlad Dyakonov and Breck Kolojay, are on the two deep.

Defensive line. Freshman Luke Wafle starts at end. Jahkeem Stewart (foot) and Braylan Shelby (undisclosed) are back on the chart as backups; how much they play against Fresno State is Riley’s call after resting players in Week 0.

Linebacker. Deven Bryant OR Jadyn Walker next to Desman Stephens II. Ta’Mere Robinson needs a strong September to keep his spot from freshman Talanoa Ili.

Secondary. Jontez Williams at one corner, Chasen Johnson OR freshman Rock Hill at the other. Alex Graham OR Kennedy Urlacher at nickel. Prophet Brown and Christian Pierce at safety.

The Bottom Line

USC is one of the few programs that publishes an official chart every week, and this one shows Riley trusting his freshmen immediately at receiver, tight end, defensive end and corner. The Fresno State game is recapped at Fresno State vs. USC and the full slate is on our USC schedule. This page is updated with each weekly chart.
