What’s Actually Still Being Decided
Minnesota remains the class of the league at 31-9 and two games clear of Golden State for the top seed, but Sunday was a reminder that it isn’t sealed. Atlanta beat the Lynx to hand them only their ninth defeat, and in doing so pulled level with Indiana at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Below that, the jockeying is severe. Atlanta and Indiana are tied. New York, Washington and Dallas are all 24-16, meaning three teams are separated by nothing at all for seeds six through eight. A single result now reorders multiple first-round matchups.
What nobody is playing for is survival. Every berth is settled, which makes this an unusual final stretch: no elimination drama, but seven eliminated teams playing spoiler against eight who all have position to protect — and Sunday showed exactly how much damage a spoiler can do.
