The New England Patriots have played in 12 Super Bowls, more than any franchise in NFL history, and won six of them. All six wins came with Tom Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick on the sideline between the 2001 and 2018 seasons. The most recent appearance was a 29-13 loss to Seattle in Super Bowl LX in February 2026.

The Six Wins
Super Bowl XXXVI. The one that started it all. Brady, a second year backup pressed into duty after Drew Bledsoe was hurt, beat the heavily favored Rams on an Adam Vinatieri field goal as time expired.
Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIX. Back to back titles over Carolina and Philadelphia, both decided in the final minutes. Deion Branch was the MVP against the Eagles.
Super Bowl XLIX. Malcolm Butler’s goal line interception against Seattle, one of the most famous plays in the game’s history.
Super Bowl LI. Down 28-3 to Atlanta in the third quarter, New England won 34-28 in the only overtime finish in Super Bowl history to that point.
Super Bowl LIII. The lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, 13-3 over the Rams in Atlanta. It gave Brady a sixth ring, more than any player, and tied the Patriots with Pittsburgh at six titles.
The Six Losses
The first two came before the dynasty: a 46-10 beating by the 1985 Bears and a loss to Green Bay after the 1996 season. Then came the two Giants defeats, in XLII, which ended an 18-0 season, and in XLVI four years later. Philadelphia won a shootout in LII despite Brady throwing for a Super Bowl record 505 yards.
The most recent came in February 2026. New England went from 4-13 to 14-3 in Mike Vrabel’s first season and reached Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium, where Seattle won 29-13. Drake Maye, at 23 years and 162 days, became the second youngest quarterback ever to start a Super Bowl, behind only Dan Marino. Where They Rank
Twelve appearances is the NFL record and no other franchise has been to more than eight. The six titles tie Pittsburgh for the most ever, though the Patriots collected theirs in an 18 season window while the Steelers needed 35 years. A seventh would have broken the tie.
