Super Bowl XLIX: The Goal Line
New England beat Seattle 28-24 in Glendale, Arizona, in a game remembered for its final 26 seconds. It was Pete Carroll facing the franchise that employed him from 1997 to 1999, and the coach who replaced him, Bill Belichick. Seattle came in as defending champion trying to become the first repeat winner since the 2004 Patriots. The loss ended that.
Super Bowl LX: The Answer
Eleven years later at Levi’s Stadium, Seattle got it back and was not close to losing. The Seahawks won 29-13 behind the league’s No. 1 defense, sacking Drake Maye six times and intercepting him twice, with a pick six sealing it. Kenneth Walker III was named MVP after gashing a Patriots defense that had not allowed a running back 40 rushing yards all postseason.
It was Seattle’s second championship, and their first since the 2013 season. New England was chasing a record seventh Super Bowl title that would have broken a tie with Pittsburgh.
