Patriots vs. Seahawks Injury Report: Week 1 Inactives, Emmanwori and Henderson Out

The official inactives are in for the 2026 season opener, and Seattle takes the bigger hit. Starting nickel safety Nick Emmanwori will not play against the Patriots, joining fellow safety Ty Okada and receiver Tory Horton on the sideline. New England is without running back TreVeyon Henderson and reserve lineman Ben Brown, both ruled out earlier in the week, and everyone else on the Patriots inactive list is a healthy scratch.

Emmanwori Is the Big One

Emmanwori is Seattle’s starting nickel and one of the core pieces of the defense that led the NFL in scoring last season. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle in July, an injury that dates to the 2025 opener and was aggravated during Super Bowl week. He came off the PUP list on August 11, was limited in practice this week and carried a questionable tag into game day. The Seahawks made it official 90 minutes before kickoff.

With Okada also out, Seattle is missing two of the three safeties it planned to lean on. A.J. Finley was signed to the active roster this week and Rodney Thomas II was elevated from the practice squad to give the secondary emergency depth. That is the matchup New England wants to attack with A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs making their Patriots debuts.

Seattle’s Other Absences

Tory Horton, who missed the end of last season with a cracked tibia, is out with a hamstring injury from training camp. That leaves the Seahawks with four active receivers, so preseason standout Montorie Foster Jr. could see extra snaps. Rookie guard Beau Stephens is a healthy scratch, and with Bryce Cabeldue waived Wednesday afternoon, Christian Haynes is the only reserve guard available.

Running back Zach Charbonnet remains on the PUP list with the knee injury he suffered in last year’s playoffs, so rookie first round pick Jadarian Price and George Holani handle the backfield. Jalen Milroe is the emergency third quarterback and does not count against the 47 man game day limit.

Henderson Out, Larison In

Henderson hurt his ankle in practice on August 24 and did not practice all week. He made the trip to Seattle but was ruled out Monday. Rhamondre Stevenson starts and should see a season high share of the carries, with Corey Kiner behind him. The Patriots elevated Lan Larison from the practice squad to serve as the third back, and he will make his NFL debut.

New England also elevated punter Mitch Wishnowsky, who handles punts and holds with Bryce Baringer on injured reserve. Ben Brown, a reserve interior lineman, stayed in Foxborough with his knee injury.

The Patriots Defense Is Healthy

Henderson and Brown were the only two Patriots carrying a game status on the final injury report. Christian Barmore, who missed practice time during the week, did not carry a designation and is active. Harold Landry III remains on the PUP list and Brenden Schooler is on the non football injury list, so neither was eligible to play. Everyone else on the inactive list, including receiver Efton Chism III and late pickups Walter Rouse and Erick Hunter, is a healthy scratch. Behren Morton is the emergency quarterback.

The Bottom Line

Seattle is without Emmanwori, Okada and Horton, and its secondary depth is being patched with a practice squad call up. New England is without Henderson and Brown, but its defense is at full strength and the only other absences are healthy scratches. The edge on health belongs to the Patriots tonight.
