LSU is the road favorite by a field goal or less at most books entering the weekend, and the number has held around 2.5 since it opened Sunday. Some books briefly went to LSU -3 or -3.5 midweek before the Tigers’ quarterback situation pulled it back under the key number of three. The total sits at 58.5 at most shops, with 57.5 available.
What Moved the Line
The market’s biggest question is whether Sam Leavitt plays. LSU listed its starting quarterback as doubtful on Wednesday’s SEC availability report with a throwing shoulder issue, then upgraded him to questionable on Thursday. Books shaded the line toward Ole Miss after the first report and drifted back after the upgrade. Leading tackler TJ Dottery is also questionable. Ole Miss staffers told ESPN they are not convinced the designation is sincere, and the SEC’s policy carries fines of up to $100,000 for gamesmanship on availability reports. The August lookahead had Ole Miss favored by 2.5, so the market has swung about five points toward LSU since summer, almost entirely because of the Tigers’ defense: 140 net yards allowed and seven sacks against Louisiana Tech, 10 points allowed to Clemson.
