How Clinching Works
Twelve teams make the postseason, six per league: the three division winners and three wild cards. A team clinches a berth when it can no longer be passed for the last wild card spot, and clinches its division when no team in the division can catch it. The top two seeds in each league earn a bye through the Wild Card Series.
