How to Read These Lines
The spread shows the favorite and how many points it is laying. Virginia Tech -14 means the Hokies must win by more than 14 for a spread bet on them to pay; Boston College covers by losing by fewer than 14 or winning outright. The total is the combined points for both teams, and bettors take the over or under. The moneyline is a bet on the winner only: a minus number is how much you risk to win 100, and a plus number is how much a 100 bet wins.
