Where the Two Polls Disagree
Four teams are ranked in one poll and not the other. The AP has Mississippi State and Houston in the top 25; the coaches have them just outside. The coaches rank Washington and Oklahoma; the AP has both receiving votes only.
The Big Movers
Ole Miss, up four to No. 4. The Rebels beat LSU 32-24 and now own the only two-ranked-win resume in the country. Three voters gave them a first-place vote.
Texas A&M, down 14 to No. 23. The Aggies lost 31-21 at home to an unranked Kentucky team that Alabama had beaten 45-17 a week earlier. A&M was one spot ahead of Alabama going in and is now 15 behind.
Louisville, up seven to No. 16. The biggest climb of the week after a 41-31 win over then-No. 16 SMU. The Cardinals’ only loss is by three to Ole Miss.
LSU, down three to No. 10. The Tigers held the final top-10 spot by one place over Texas Tech despite losing on their last possession in Oxford.
Oklahoma dropped out of the AP poll after a win, beating New Mexico 14-6 with 61 rushing yards and two John Mateer interceptions. The coaches kept the Sooners at 24.
New Faces
Florida enters the AP poll at No. 21, the first ranking under Jon Sumrall, after a road win at Auburn. Mississippi State is ranked for the first time since 2022 at No. 24, behind four touchdown passes from Kamario Taylor against South Carolina.
