The 2025 Season Was the Peak
They met six times in 2025 and every meeting was a final: Rome, the French Open, Wimbledon, Cincinnati, the US Open and the ATP Finals. Alcaraz won four of them. The French Open final ran 5 hours 29 minutes, the longest in tournament history, and Alcaraz saved three championship points and came back from two sets down for the first time in his career. Sinner answered a month later at Wimbledon, which is still the only Grand Slam final Alcaraz has lost.
Where the Rivalry Stands
Sinner won their last meeting, the 2026 Monte Carlo final, and took back the world No. 1 ranking with it. Injuries have kept them apart since. Alcaraz missed the French Open and Wimbledon with a right wrist injury, and Sinner withdrew from this year’s US Open with a right knee problem after winning Wimbledon for the second straight year. They have not played since April.
