Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers are the reigning MLB MVPs, and in 2025 they became the first pair of reigning MVPs to both repeat in the same season. Judge won his third American League MVP and Ohtani his fourth overall. Barry Bonds holds the record with seven MVP awards. MLB MVP Facts
Bonds won four straight NL MVPs from 2001 to 2004, and his seven awards are three more than anyone else. Ohtani is the only player to win MVP unanimously more than once and joined Frank Robinson as the only players to win the award in both leagues. The only tie in voting history came in 1979, when Keith Hernandez and Willie Stargell shared the NL award. Clayton Kershaw in 2014 was the last full time pitcher to win.
