How to Read It Against the Sportsbooks
Prediction market prices are probabilities, not book lines, and they run a little sharper: a book might list Ohio State at +450 while the market says 16 percent, which is roughly +525. The direction of movement is what matters. When a team’s chance jumps after a Saturday, the books follow within a day. When it drifts on a week the team did not play, that is the market pricing everyone else’s results.
After Week 1
The first Saturday did not change the top of the market much. Ohio State won 56 to 3, Georgia 63 to 3, Texas 59 to 7, and the big three stayed the big three. The movers were below them: LSU after 51 to 10 over Clemson in Lane Kiffin’s debut, Miami after Darian Mensah’s five touchdown night at Stanford, and Oregon in the wrong direction after trailing Boise State at halftime and winning by seven. Ohio State at Texas on Saturday is the first game that reshuffles the top three.
