Oklahoma has produced 35 unanimous All-Americans, more than any program in college football, and 83 consensus selections, more than any program since 1950. The total of 169 first team All-Americans runs from Claude Reeds in 1913 to Danny Stutsman in 2024, and the program’s dominance in the honours is heaviest exactly where its dominance on the field was: the Wilkinson 1950s, the Switzer 1970s and 1980s, and the Stoops 2000s.

The Unanimous Selections
Thirty five Oklahoma players have been named first team by all five NCAA recognised selectors, the most of any school. The group includes Lee Roy Selmon in 1975, Billy Sims in both 1978 and 1979, Tony Casillas in 1985, Brian Bosworth in both 1985 and 1986, Keith Jackson in 1987, Tommie Harris in 2003, Adrian Peterson in 2004, Sam Bradford in 2008, Baker Mayfield in 2017, Kyler Murray in 2018 and CeeDee Lamb in 2019. Sims and Bosworth are the program’s two time unanimous selections.
2003: Five Consensus All-Americans
The 2003 team, which won the Big 12 South and reached the BCS championship game, produced five consensus All-Americans in one season: Jason White at quarterback, Tommie Harris at defensive tackle, Teddy Lehman at linebacker, Derrick Strait at cornerback and Antonio Perkins as a return specialist. White won the Heisman, Harris the Lombardi, Lehman the Butkus and Bednarik, and Strait the Thorpe and Nagurski. No Oklahoma team has matched it.
Linebacker Tradition
Oklahoma has produced thirteen consensus All-America selections at linebacker, and four players earned it twice: Rod Shoate, George Cumby, Rocky Calmus and Teddy Lehman. Brian Bosworth won the Butkus Award in both 1985 and 1986, the only player to win it twice, and Danny Stutsman in 2024 became the first Sooner linebacker named consensus since Curtis Lofton in 2007. The Award Winners
Oklahoma’s seven Heisman winners were all consensus All-Americans. Beyond them, Lee Roy Selmon won the Outland and Lombardi in 1975, Tony Casillas the Lombardi in 1985, Tommie Harris the Lombardi in 2003, and Adrian Peterson finished second in the Heisman as a freshman in 2004, at the time the highest finish by a first year player. The AP All Time Team
When the Associated Press named an all time All-America team in 2025, three Sooners were named, including Brian Bosworth and Lee Roy Selmon on the second team. Fourteen Oklahoma players have been first team AP All-Americans twice, a list that includes Weatherall, Shoate, Pruitt, Cumby, Sims, Casillas, Hutson, Bosworth, Jackson, McDonald, Calmus, Lehman, Harris and Duke Robinson.
