The Records
Smith broke the FBS freshman receiving record in 2024 with 1,315 yards. His 2,558 receiving yards and 27 touchdown catches are the most by any Big Ten receiver in a first two seasons, and he is the fastest player in Ohio State history to 100 catches, 1,000 receiving yards and 1,500 receiving yards. In 2025 he dropped two of 106 targets.
Third and Jeremiah
The play that defines him so far came in the national championship game against Notre Dame in January 2025. Ohio State faced third and 11 late in the fourth quarter, clinging to a lead, and Smith caught a 56 yard ball that set up the final points of a 34 to 23 win. Buckeye fans have called it third and Jeremiah ever since. He also went for 187 yards and two touchdowns against Oregon in the Rose Bowl that season, the tenth highest single game receiving total in program history.
