Andy Reid is the 13th head coach in Chiefs history, hired on January 7, 2013, and he enters the 2026 season as the winningest coach the franchise has had. He passed Hank Stram in November 2023 and has kept extending the gap since.
The Three That Matter Most
| Coach | Years | Regular season wins with KC |
|---|---|---|
| Andy Reid | 2013 to present | 149 |
| Hank Stram | 1960 to 1974 | 124 |
| Marty Schottenheimer | 1989 to 1998 | 101 |
Hank Stram Built It
Stram was the first coach in franchise history, taking the job in 1960 when the team was still the Dallas Texans. He went 124 and 76 with 10 ties across fifteen seasons, won three AFL championships and delivered the Super Bowl IV title, and he is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Schottenheimer Made Them Relevant Again
After a long stretch of losing seasons, Marty Schottenheimer took over in 1989 and made the Chiefs a perennial playoff team through the 1990s, winning 101 regular season games. What his teams never did was reach a Super Bowl, a pattern that followed him through his career.
Andy Reid Changed the Ceiling
Reid arrived from Philadelphia in 2013, eight days after the Eagles fired him. He is the only coach in NFL history to hold the most wins in the history of two different franchises, with 149 regular season wins in Kansas City and 130 in Philadelphia. Under Reid the Chiefs reached seven straight AFC Championship games and five Super Bowls in six seasons, winning three of them.
