The Mountain West has 10 football members in 2026 after losing Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State to the rebuilt Pac-12. It added FCS power North Dakota State, which is playing its first FBS season, and Northern Illinois from the MAC as football-only members, plus UTEP from Conference USA.
