College Football Teams by Conference 2026: All 138 FBS Teams in Every Conference

There are 138 FBS college football teams in 2026, spread across 10 conferences plus two independents, Notre Dame and UConn. The Power Four conferences, the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC, have 67 teams and did not change this year. The other 69 teams play in the six remaining conferences, where realignment moved 11 programs on July 1, 2026: the Pac-12 rebuilt itself around five former Mountain West schools and Texas State, and North Dakota State and Sacramento State moved up from the FCS. Every conference and every team is below.

Power Four, Non Power Four and the Playoff

The Power Four conferences receive the largest share of College Football Playoff revenue and most of the at large bids. The other six FBS leagues, long called the Group of Five before the Pac-12 was rebuilt, compete for the playoff access reserved for top ranked conference champions. The FBS grew from 136 teams in 2025 to 138 this season with the arrivals of North Dakota State and Sacramento State.
