Georgia has produced 42 consensus All-Americans and 16 unanimous selections, and Herschel Walker accounts for three of the sixteen by himself. Ten of the unanimous picks have come since 2009, and Kirby Smart’s championship defences produced two in consecutive seasons.

Herschel Walker, Three Times
Walker was a unanimous All-American in each of his three seasons, the only Georgia player honoured three times at that level and one of very few in the sport’s history. He ran for 5,259 yards across those three years, won the 1982 Heisman and finished in the top three of the vote every season he played. The Three Time All-Americans
Three Georgia players have been first team All-Americans in three separate seasons: Walker, defensive end David Pollack from 2002 to 2004, and tight end Brock Bowers from 2021 to 2023. Bowers is the only player to win the Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end in consecutive years, and the AP put him on its all time first team alongside Walker. Pollack was twice the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Championship Defences
The 2021 national title team produced two unanimous All-Americans on defence, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean, and the 2022 repeat produced two more, Jalen Carter and Christopher Smith. Four unanimous selections from one unit across two seasons is the reason the 2022 draft set records: five of that defence went in the first round. Our NFL draft page covers that.
The Smart Era Surge
Georgia had six unanimous All-Americans in its first 125 seasons through 2016. It has had eight in the nine seasons since, beginning with Roquan Smith in 2017. The 42 consensus selections include recent honourees such as Malaki Starks, and the program had at least one consensus All-American in every season from 2017 through 2024.
The Award Winners
Champ Bailey won the Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s best defensive player in 1998, the only Georgia player to do so, and was named to the AP all time second team as a cornerback. Drew Butler is the only punter in program history to be a unanimous All-American, winning the Ray Guy Award in 2009. Frank Sinkwich and Charley Trippi, the first two unanimous selections, played in the same backfield on the 1942 championship team.
