The Freshman Season
Toney debuted against Notre Dame with six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown and never came off the field. He became the first freshman in Miami history to pass 1,000 receiving yards, set the school single season record with 109 catches, and led the country in receptions. He went for 153 yards at Florida State, 146 against Virginia Tech and 135 against Louisville, and kept producing in the playoff: 10 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown in the national championship game, which Miami lost to Indiana 27 to 21.

Toney was a 38 to 1 afterthought on the preseason board and is now around 15 to 1, tied with Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith as the shortest priced receiver, after the 233 yard game at Stanford.
