How Red Zone Scoring Is Counted

A red zone trip is a possession that reaches the opponent’s 20 yard line. The feed counts a trip as scored when it ends in points, so field goals count here along with touchdowns. With only a few trips per game, one or two drives can move a team several spots early in the season.
