Why Third Down Matters
Third down is where drives live or die. Converting keeps the offense on the field and the defense tired, and teams that convert well above 40 percent usually rank near the top in scoring. Early in the season a handful of attempts can swing a percentage a lot, so read these alongside the number of attempts.
