Prediction and Odds

Portland State went 1 and 11 last season and finished last in the Big Sky at 1 and 7, and the Vikings already opened conference play last week against UC Davis. San Diego State has one of the better defenses in the West and a home crowd that expects a Pac-12 title run. This has the look of the most lopsided game of the late window.

Our pick: San Diego State 45, Portland State 7. San Diego State wins in a rout.

Why This One Matters

The Aztecs have a real test at UCLA and the Rose Bowl next Saturday, then host James Madison, a 12 win playoff team last year. Tonight is about getting the new season started cleanly in front of the home fans and christening the Pac-12 era in San Diego.
