How Home Field Works
Home field advantage goes to the pennant winner with the better regular season record, not to a league. That team hosts Games 1 and 2 and, if needed, Games 6 and 7. The other team hosts Games 3, 4 and 5. Off days fall after Game 2 and after Game 5, which is why a seven game series spans nine days.
Last Year
The Dodgers beat the Blue Jays in seven games in the 2025 World Series, winning Game 7 by a score of 5 to 4 in 11 innings. It was their second straight title and the first repeat champion since the 2000 Yankees, so Los Angeles enters October chasing a third straight title, something no team has done since the Yankees won three in a row from 1998 through 2000.
