Today’s Semifinals
France vs. Germany, 10:30 a.m. ET, TBS and truTV: the tournament’s highest scoring team against the host. France has won its four games by a combined 156 points and is in a World Cup semifinal for the first time since 1953; Gabby Williams leads the tournament in scoring. Germany lost to Spain by 30 in its opener and has won four straight since, including a 93 to 74 quarterfinal win over EuroBasket champion Belgium in which it won every quarter. Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally of the New York Liberty anchor the frontcourt, and Berlin Arena has been full for every German game.
United States vs. Spain, 2 p.m. ET, TBS: the four time defending champion against a Spain team seeking its first World Cup title and fourth podium finish. The Americans are 4 and 0 in Berlin, have won 34 straight World Cup games and have not lost a semifinal since 2006. Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper and Chelsea Gray have started every game, with Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese coming off the bench. Spain is 3 and 1, with the Mali upset in group play its only blemish, and comes off an 89 to 66 rout of Australia. Iyana Martín, the No. 7 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, leads Spain at 16.5 points a game; Alicia Flórez of the Mystics, Seattle rookie Awa Fam and former Iowa center Megan DiLeo are also in the rotation. The last time these two met with a medal on the line was the 2014 final in Istanbul, a 77 to 64 United States win.
The two winners meet in Sunday’s final at 2 p.m. ET on TNT. The losers play for bronze Sunday morning. The champion earns direct qualification for the LA28 Olympics; the United States is already in as host, and a win Sunday would tie the Soviet Union’s record of five consecutive titles.

The Americans opened Thursday with the biggest quarterfinal score in World Cup history: 60 percent from the field, 12 of 22 from three, 31 assists and a 52 to 16 edge in the paint. Every player scored. Rhyne Howard had 15, and Kahleah Copper, Caitlin Clark and Jackie Young had 10 each; Clark added 9 assists in 20 minutes. Spain closed the night by taking a 31 to 17 first quarter lead on Australia and never letting it go. The Opals dressed eight players after Ezi Magbegor’s ACL tear was confirmed about 30 minutes before tipoff; Steph Talbot scored 23, but Australia turned it over 23 times.
