The China game: five records in one night
Clark came off the bench and finished with 14 points on 4 of 9 shooting with three three pointers, 11 assists, three rebounds and zero turnovers. Her plus 30 was the best mark in the game and FIBA named her Player of the Game.

The Italy game: one point
Two days later she scored one. She was 0 for 6 from the field and 0 for 3 from three, with her point coming at the free throw line, and added four rebounds, two steals and one assist. The whole American team struggled, shooting 29 percent from the field and scoring their fewest points in a World Cup game since 1971, and Italy led 50-49 with 3:21 to play before losing 55-52. Jackie Young led the United States in scoring and defended Italy’s final possession.
The Czechia game: 9 and 7
With a quarterfinal place already secured, Kara Lawson spread the minutes and Clark played 22, finishing with 9 points and 7 assists on 1 of 6 from three. All 12 Americans scored in a 105-64 win, and Breanna Stewart was Player of the Game.
The Hungary game: 9 assists in 20 minutes
Clark’s best passing night since the opener came in the quarterfinal on Thursday, September 10: 10 points on 3 of 8 shooting, 1 of 3 from three and 3 of 4 at the line, with 9 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 turnovers in 20 minutes. Two of the assists went to Angel Reese on transition baskets off steals, and Reese returned the favor with an assist of her own on a Clark bucket. The United States won 108-56, the highest scoring quarterfinal in World Cup history, with 31 assists as a team, also a quarterfinal record. Napheesa Collier was Player of the Game with 19 points.
The Spain game: one point in the semifinal
Her quietest night of the tournament came in the semifinal on Saturday, September 12: 1 point, 1 assist, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 2 turnovers in 17 minutes, 0 of 3 from the field with all three attempts from three, and 1 of 3 at the line. Her point was a first quarter free throw and her best play was a bounce pass to Fever teammate Aliyah Boston for a layup. Kara Lawson rode her five veteran starters through a fourth quarter the United States won 18 to 8 after the game was tied at 58, and the Americans won 76-66. Breanna Stewart had 16 and Jackie Young scored six of her 12 in the fourth.
Through five games Clark is averaging 7.0 points and 5.8 assists. The final is Sunday, September 13 against France at 2 p.m. ET on TNT.
Her road to Berlin
Clark was MVP of the World Cup qualifying tournament in San Juan in March 2026, her senior team debut, averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 assists as the United States went 5-0. It was her second MVP award on the world stage after the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup.
She arrives after a 2025 WNBA season limited to 13 games by a groin strain and an ankle bone bruise, in which she averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5 rebounds.
Why she comes off the bench
Kara Lawson has started Chelsea Gray at point guard, the same role Gray held at the Paris Olympics. Clark has been the first guard off the bench, and against China that pairing with Paige Bueckers in the second unit was the difference in the game.
