How Both Teams Got Here
Montana is 3-0 and has won all three at home, including two Big Sky games. The Grizzlies are one of the strongest programs at the FCS level and are unbeaten against their own competition.
Oregon State is 0-2 against a difficult opening schedule: a 33-20 loss at No. 22 Houston and a 35-24 home loss to No. 13 Texas Tech. Both losses came against ranked teams, which softens them, but the Beavers have yet to win.
What to Watch
Whether Oregon State can close a game. The Beavers hung with two ranked opponents into the second half and lost both, and the pattern of a team that competes without finishing is the one that gets caught by a good FCS opponent.
Montana has not left Missoula this season, so an 8 p.m. Pacific kickoff on the road is the first real variable. The Grizzlies will be physical and will shorten the game; if it is a one score contest in the fourth quarter, the pressure sits entirely on the home team.
